Website of the Week: Canva

Listen, as a longtime blogger I know how time consuming & complicated trying to navigate photoshop can be. I am all about the websites that can make design simple & beautiful. If you don't want to hire a graphic designer, but want to create beautiful graphics for your blog or business you need to check out Canva.com!

I read a review of the site from Vicky at Small Business Gal & knew I had to check it out. She also has an awesome video tutorial for navigating the site- though I promise it's pretty user friendly! The website gives you the dimensions & some pretty gorgeous custom made templates to design blog graphics, facebook headers, business cards and more. In addition you can add in text, stickers, labels, and background images. It makes for some pretty fun creative projects.

I personally love the ability to drag & drop your website homepage into all kinds of fun technology like ipads, phones & computers, like I've done above. You can really get creative with this site though- think about designing invitations for events, an opt-in for your facebook page. I love checking out the editor's picks for inspiration.

Even though I'm fairly savvy in photoshop, finding this site was so awesome- because it can be a huge timesaver, and I knew I wanted to pass it on! The best part is it's all free (except if you decide to use one of their stock photos in your creation)!

What websites are you loving for your blog or business right now? You know the kind that just make life a little easier (& prettier?) Be sure to share with us!

Stylish Office Art

If you ask me one of the keys to success is an inspiring workspace. A beautiful gallery wall seems to keep you motivated and focused throughout the day. I am partial to motivational quotes & whimsical illustrations.  This girl can't resist a little bit of gold foil and bold color.

I'm sharing nine of my favorite art prints from super talented independent designers. These prints are sure to make your office a little bit more stylish! I'd style them in a gallery wall format grouping a few together.

I love the idea of also being able to support woman business owners and create an inspiring workspace! I seriously can't pick a favorite!

Stylish Social Tip #4 : Fabulous Free Fonts

Stylish #Social Tip: Free Font Resources // LPFMedia.com

One of my absolute favorite resources for making a blog or graphic design project feel extra professional is free fonts. You can seek out a specific font on a mission for a project, or go on a downloading spree to find fonts for any occasion.  For added aesthetic value try pairing two contrasting typography like an italic & serif or bold & thin font.

I've come up with a list of my absolute favorite fonts lately. They're a pretty little mix of bold, script and handwritten styles. I'll also share my favorite resources for free fonts for your projects.

Download these fabulous (and free) fonts for yourself below:

Like I said I'm a bit of a typography nerd. It's sort of embarrassing. I can actually identify them (and  usually do) out in public! But, no shame- my font love is your win, because I have some great resources to share. If you're on the hunt for professional or fun new fonts these are a few of my favorite websites:

One of the best ways to make your brand feel consistent across several blog posts, graphic design projects & social media channels is to choose a few fonts to use throughout your branding. This cohesiveness makes things feel connected and beautiful!

Website of the Week: Google Trends

I bet you're thinking Google.. well obviously I know how to google things- but chances are, you haven't utilized the Google Trends search function! This sub-site of google allows you to see what searches are trending at any given time, as well as compare search terms over any period of time you specify.

Why would you want to follow the crowd you ask? Identifying what terms people are searching most for will in turn help your search results. Improved SEO rankings = more visibility to your website. I'm going to show you a recent example of how I used the Google Trends search for naming a blog post- you could also utilize this for naming products to help with search results for shoppers.

LPF Media: How to Use Google Trends for Your Blog + Biz

Curious of how to use Google Trends to help with your SEO?  Here's an example of how I recently used Google Trends when trying to figure out what to title a blog post for my fashion blog, La Petite Fashionista

I was writing about a trend for spring- often referred to as the midi skirt, full skirt, & skater skirt. All arecommonly used terms for the same style of skirt, so I turned to google trends to see what most people were searching & as a result have my blog be more likely to turn up in their search results.

The result of this quick query (say that 5x fast!) helped me in naming my blog post: "Try This Trend: Skater Skirts"! Think about all of the possibilities for naming products in a shop, or maximizing your search engine optimization.

Play around with Google Trends a little more and you'll see you can gain additional information like regional interest in that search team & related searches. This simple step can help you amp up your blog post + copywriting game!

Your Dreams are Valid

After hearing Lupita's moving speech at the Oscars the other weekend, her words really stuck with me. I think it's something important to remember. Your dreams are valid. That thing you always wished you could do? Do it- and don't let anything stand in your way!

I couldn't be happier to be chasing my dreams. Though, it's much more than a dream if you believe in yourself that you can make it happen. Save this graphic as your phone background, print it out for your desk- and whatever you do- don't forget these words!

Happy Friday!

LPF Media Stylish Social Tip #3: Build Your Network by Being Genuine!

Stylish Social Tip #3: Build Your Network by Being Genuine!

It doesn't take long in the blogging game to see that there is no magical formula to gaining an audience. Unless you are one of the lucky few that becomes an overnight sensation- the key is building relationships through your social sites. One of the best way to do this is through joining blogging networks. Whether the networks are niche based, region specific, or business building it's one of the easiest way to find & receive new reads.

I think one of the key things to think about when interacting with other bloggers, whether you're a business or fellow blogger is authenticity. You can choose to send them a tweet or comment on a blog or facebook post, but it is very clear if a response is canned or genuine. So, take the time to be real and it will return itself in dividends! Choose a community in which members help to promote and support eachother. Last year, along with a few other lovely ladies, I started the Midwest Bloggers group & I am amazed at how cross-promotional and encouraging members are to eachother.

A few of my favorite networks for discovering & reaching out to new blogs are:

Regional Networks:

Interest Based Networks:

Business Networks:

Start by signing up on the sites that align most with your blog or business and then begin to build a list of contacts by creating meaningful connections with your network. Do what you can to help promote others & they will do the same for you. Above all, be genuine!
